Seeing major corporations transitioning more than 50% to 70% of their staff to working remotely on a permanent basis will suddenly become desirable as they see the cost savings. Offering internet & equipment subsidies to employees versus renting multiple floors at Place Ville Marie or 1001 de la Gauchetiere become favorable fiscal realizations.
Open workspace concepts will become undesired due to risks. The days of the 6 foot cubicle of solitude with window inserts will reign once more as people seek whatever isolation that can be offered in office spaces if they are required to work in them. Anyone maintaining the open workspace concept will now require significantly more square footage of costly space per employee. Employee space allocations of 36 sq ft will easily balloon up to 144 sq ft to maintain 6 ft social distancing, plus then factor in foot traffic spacing as well…
Transitioning to new shared business locations on a “as needed” basis. Daily co-work project spaces rentals, hourly boardroom rentals, and IT transitioning to cloud server deployments will become greater in demand as companies shed their costly office space overheads.
Re-aligning new business operation concepts will become an absolute necessity for any company to survive in the new economy & limited social interactions over the next few years of recovery.
